INTRODUCTION

Mindful of the increasing demands for the know-how about the computers, the basic speech skills, the fundamental steps in folk and modern dances, and the talent in playing a musical instrument, the Dominican School of Calabanga would like to invite interested pupils to enroll and be part of our Special Courses Program.

We had been offering this program since 2002 and it brought favorable results. This year we decided to continue the program since we believe that the special talents of children need to be enhanced and developed.

THE PROGRAM

This will be a 7-month program that will start in July to November and January to February.

Each class in Computer and Speech will be meeting twice a week with one hour per session, while the Creative Dance Theater and Banduria will be meeting one hour and a half every session, twice a week.

To ensure maximum learning, there will be a limited number of pupils in each class.

At the end of every semester, the pupils will present an output and make an actual demonstration of the skills that they acquired.

REWARD

A pupil who is enrolled in any course will be given a certificate of recognition at the end of the school year.

Any pupil who will meet the necessary requirements in each course will receive an award in recognition of his/her performance.

SPECIAL COURSES

A. COMPUTER

This course will enable the pupils to gain an academic edge in using computer tools for learning, productivity and creativity through hands-on.

B. CREATIVE dance THEATER

This course is designed to lead the pupils through exercises and fun-filled activities to explore their body and freely create movements towards appreciation of body and movements as a medium of artistic expressions.

C. BANDURIA

This course will enable the pupils to learn the skills and the discipline in playing the banduria as a musical instrument and to play classical rondalla pieces with mastery and precision.

The pupil is expected to have his/her own instrument so that he/she may practice at home.

D. SPEECH

This course is designed to improve pupil’s skills in oral communication with proper intonation, pronunciation and enunciation. The pupils will be trained to recite poems, declamation, dialogues and stories.

FEES

Miscellaneous fee will be collected once for the whole year. Materials that will be used will be provided.
